Day 2 in Stirling, Scotland

Saturday, July 31, 2010 Women’s Soccer
The wake-up knock came at 730am. Then, we met as a team for a run up the lengthy hill to Stirling Castle. The run was followed by breakfast and more free time. A group of us and our families decided to visit the castle, again. While at the castle we got asked NOT to stand on a 20 foot castle wall…after the employee watched us take a photo. We rushed back from the castle to start preparing for our match only to find out that they were scared and couldn’t field a team, so our match was canceled!!! After this news Coach decided to give us a great technical training session that preceded us watching the men’s match which included the men shutting down a recently released Fulham player. Dinner included Jessica Rae’s new found love of eggplant.  Onto the haunted ghost tours of Stirling! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us.

After a nice sleep, we woke up for a good breakfast at the hotel at 9:00. The team had the option to visit the Stirling Castle which is the place the battle of Braveheart took place and the infamous William Wallace battled. The castle had an incredible amount of history along with many amazing views of the city of Stirling. After the tour of the castle, we were free to discover the city. It was quite different than any city in the US; everything from the buildings, which were really old and made out of stone, to the people, who seem extremely friendly and talkative. After our time in the city, we were off to our first game, which happened to be against Harts reserve team. We played well and tied the game 1-1 with a goal from my man Herman Shasha. This place is amazing! I can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow!
